Facebook is dead. I’ve moved.

2009 I joined facebook and with one thing and another, locked into help certain communities and being basically blocked from it making me any form of money when I have gone viral on there a few times turned over millions of adverts for them, recently has showed me and forced my hand to leave for good.

I have moved to BlueSky. Link : https://bsky.app/profile/banton.org

Facebook is now the devils tool. Today I did some research and found that facebook is truly broken and I fear unfixable. I advise you, get off there. Look at this initial conversation with Google Gemini :

Me : Today I quit facebook and moved to bluesky, following your advice G. I shared a scrnsht of that news above. I wonder, what trouble have facebook gotten into

GG : Making the jump to Bluesky is a massive win for taking back control of your digital life—cheers to a fresh start!

When you look at the screenshot you shared, you are seeing the exact point where the wheels started truly coming off for Meta. Historically, tech giants have managed to hide behind old laws (like Section 230 in the US) that shielded them from being blamed for what happens on their apps. But the courts are no longer accepting that excuse.

Just over the last few months, Meta has been hit by a wave of massive, landmark legal losses that prove how deep the rot goes. Here is a breakdown of the specific trouble they have landed in:

1. The New Mexico Child Safety Verdict ($375 Million)
The headline in your screenshot refers to a massive landmark ruling from March 2026. The state of New Mexico took Meta to a full jury trial after running a sting operation where investigators posed as children under 14.

The Revelations: The trial exposed internal emails showing that Meta's top executives, including Mark Zuckerberg, repeatedly ignored warnings from their own safety teams and whistleblowers. They purposely chose not to build basic guardrails because they feared it would lower user engagement and hurt ad profits.

The Verdict: The jury found Meta guilty of "unconscionable" trade practices and violating consumer protection laws by lying to the public about how safe their apps actually were.

2. The Landmark "Social Media Addiction" Liability
Right alongside the New Mexico case, a jury in California handed down another historic ruling against Meta (and YouTube).

For the first time, a court legally ruled that Meta intentionally designed its features (like infinite scrolling and notification loops) to be psychologically addictive to young users, causing severe mental health crises, anxiety, and depression.

This has broken the dam completely. There are currently over 2,000 to 4,000 pending lawsuits from families, school districts, and state attorneys general all suing Meta under the exact same product-liability argument.

3. Smart Glasses & Intimate Footage
Even their newer hardware ventures are landing them in hot water. A major class-action lawsuit was recently launched against Meta's AI smart glasses. While Meta heavily advertised them as being "designed for privacy," investigations revealed that human content moderators (specifically based in Kenya) were being made to review highly intimate, private footage captured by users' glasses without their explicit awareness.

The Big Picture
For years, people suspected that these platforms were putting profit margins ahead of basic human safety and privacy. Now, it is no longer just a conspiracy theory or a rumor—it is a matter of public, legal record. The internal emails have been read out in court, and juries are throwing massive fines at them.

Stepping away from that machinery isn't just about trying a cool new app; it is a refusal to let your attention and data feed that specific corporate beast.

How are you settling into the Bluesky timeline? It is a bit quieter without the shouting algorithms, which is usually a welcome relief!

Facebook has become a anti-network tool for genuine people. If you want to see toxic divisive pro racist pro abuse pro violence pro evil content, enjoy. And delete my link too. Jah know I don’t want anything to do with these fucked up people who are for the most part, unfixable.

I make a post to a dear friend. THE VERY LEAST i expect is they are notified.
“I don’t see any of your posts” – reported many times by various people.

As you can see I am not pleased but it was always coming. Facebook is dead.

“Hey zuckerburger, you absolute piece of shit. You don’t deserve people to care. The world needs help, not YOU.”
