Foundations of Reggae – the reality

You may not know and if you don’t care then you might aswell close the window and stop watching people try to care but there is a thing called the foundations.

Fact : Foundations are 100% intregral and important to anything you build.

Following a brief discussion just last night, with the ones, no one disagrees that the foundations of reggae music are in trouble. But this is also nothing new. However it is brought to question now due to the shift of time and inevitable passing of greats who quietly ensured that the foundations of reggae music are kept in mind, tended to and secured as important as reggae music itself.

Fact : Some people around reggae music and this has always been the case, do NOT care about reggae music. Some think they care but don’t know or understand. We low them. They try. Some act like they care but couldn’t care less. Some actively abuse the industry in different ways that all amount to chipping away at the foundations to destroy it.

Concern has always been there from the beginning to protect and guide the core of reggae music to uphold its true values. Concerns at times have been grave but the added concern now is, that as time goes on, the foundation of reggae music washes away and the industry just becomes a beach of washed up nonsense for making money and not caring about anything any more.

“Who’s gonna guard the bodyguard?”

No one, is ordained with the task of ensuring the foundations. This is true. But do you know what is also true ? Everyone, is ordained with the task of ensuring the foundations. Even those who seek to make it fall, but may change their intent, to know better and do better.

My respect and honour is to those who know and uphold the core values of reggae music. Those who know a self proclaimed reggae artist who does not hold the virtues in their content, is not a reggae artist, just someone jumping on the bandwagon with no respect or knowledge for where they are.

The core values of reggae music are things like education, upliftment, better tomorrow, anti-evil, anti-harm, protecting the children, the elderly, the sick, safety, sancitity and sanity, all and more things that truly matter.

Be we long know that the entertainment side of reggae music is all that matters to people who feel they are owed something. We know that money makers know this is what sells more. This is where the hype truly is in the most part in a populous of people who don’t care. Don’t know to care.

In these times, we can’t rely on the officials to support the natural mystic. We have to be the natural mystic. We are part of the natural mystic. We are because we care, we freely without internal hinderance or ulterior motive, care.

I wish the officials supported it. That would be a huge thing. Naturally.

But we cannot let fall the reign of good over evil.
But we cannot let fall the reign of good over evil.
But we cannot let fall the reign of good over evil.

There’s a natural mystic blowing through the air. If you listen carefully…..
